Heather Humes, M.S.

As the founder of Enjoy the Ride Mental Performance, I help equestrian athletes, competitors, and performers develop the confidence, focus, and mental skills needed to perform consistently under pressure. My passion for mental performance began through my own experience in the equestrian world, where I discovered how profoundly mindset influences both performance and enjoyment. Today, I work with athletes and performers across a variety of disciplines to help them unlock their full potential.

In addition to my consulting practice, I serve as Co-Director of the Center for Sport and Performance Psychology at California Baptist University. Through this role, I have had the opportunity to work with individuals and teams ranging from youth and recreational athletes to collegiate competitors. My experience also includes preparing doctoral social work students for dissertation defenses, supporting police explorers in developing performance under pressure, and presenting at the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) West Regional Conferences. These diverse experiences have strengthened my ability to help individuals excel in demanding, high-pressure environments. Working with collegiate athletes, doctoral candidates, first responders, and performers has given me extensive experience helping individuals develop confidence, manage pressure, improve focus, and perform at their best when it matters most.

My consulting philosophy centers on practical, evidence-based mental skills training that helps clients build confidence, improve focus, manage pressure, and perform consistently when it matters most. Whether working with an individual athlete, a team, or another high-performing professional, my goal is to help each client recognize they are capable of far more than they often believe.

Nothing is more rewarding than watching clients grow- not only as performers, but as confident, resilient individuals who learn to enjoy both the process and the pursuit of excellence.
